When Vaginal Discharges are More Than Just Embarassing

Most women tend to neglect themselves. There are many reasons why they do this. The first is that they believe that their problem is just a small one, which will pass with time. Another is the lack of time from coping with work, the house and family. And the most important is the fear of seeing the doctor. The problem might actually be bigger than they imagine, and they are actually afraid to confront it.Most women have some discharge from their vagina at some time. It is also normal, unless there is something unusual about the discharge. Sometimes, the discharge can change it’s colour. It can be slightly grayish or even a little green.

There can sometimes be a tinge of blood in the discharge as well. Unless you are spotting, this tinge of blood is not normal. You can sometimes have an excessive discharge from your vagina too. A third problem is a foul odour which you see from the discharge. None of these are normal.

Women sometimes tend to ignore this since they believe that a discharge is just alright. Additionally, there can be some embarrassment at having to talk to someone, or see the doctor about this problem.

You must get problems like changing discharges attended to immediately. Usually, when you have some discharge which is unusual, it is the sign of an infection in the vagina. This must be taken care of immediately, or it could get severe.

Severe infections are very difficult to cure and can occur more frequently as well. If ignored your simple infection could just turn into a disease which can lead to the inflammation of the pelvis, and also cause other complications. You could just lead yourself to infertility and also have higher chances of having an ectopic pregnancy.  You can also experience chronic abdominal pain.

The minute you suspect some problem with your discharge, visit your doctor. After an examination, you could be put on some antibiotic which will treat the problem immediately, and negate the possibility of having complications later on. This is not a serious problem, just one which requires timely treatment to prevent it from getting out of hand.
