Uterine fibroids grow from the uterine muscle and non-cancerous in nature. They can grow in clusters or singly and can vary in size from very small to very large ones. In some women, uterine fibroids can be associated with pain or heavy bleeding and necessitate immediate medical attention. During pregnancy, fibroids can increase in size. This is because during such time the production of progesterone is high and waste away after menopause because of the decrease in the progesterone levels.
You can include foods such as beans and whole grains which can change and shrink fibroids by altering the progesterone/estrogen ratio for the better. You can also take B complex vitamins which can guard against this condition or prevent problems associated with fibroids. Though this condition is not generally very problematic, it can sometimes cause great discomfort owing to painful periods, bloating, urinary frequency, back ache, urine retention etc. You can opt for wither non-surgical or surgical methods to remove it. Fibroids mainly grow owing to better blood supply in the area where they thrive.
