What you should know about hair colorants

You can change your look and attitude by coloring your hair. There are a wide range of branded hair coloring products available in the market these days. Through hair coloring you can drop jaws and turn heads as you can have a whole new look.The hair color products available may be temporary colorants, semi-permanent or permanent colorants.  Temporary colorants can have more effect on light colored hair rather than dark hair. However they may not be able to give a new look for your hair for a very long time. Semi permanent colorants give better effect than temporary colorants and may lose their power only after about 20 hair washes or shampooing. These type of colorants gives more richness and shine to hair.

Permanent colorants are universal colorants which can give lasting results. They do not cause harmful effects on your hair as they contain strong oxidizers. They can be used to create bold or milder shades and are the most effective among all hair colorants.

You can also undergo hair lightening which will make your hair 4-5 times lighter than what it is. However, this procedure can lead to harmful effects. Also you may have to follow this procedure with shampooing and application of special balms which may become a time consuming and a difficult process.

While using a hair colorant, precautions must be taken to follow the procedure mentioned in the label. You should wash away hair color remnants after applying the same. It can take up to 45 minutes to have your hair colored using a permanent hair colorant, while semi colorants’ application can take about 25 minutes. Also it is advisable to get your hair colored by a hair expert and not experiment with it too much by way of acute or sudden color changes.

Hair coloring is not recommended for those having extremely sensitive skin or skin problems. Your hair must be able to withstand the process of hair coloring as this process can have negative effects where the hair is very thin or damaged.It is better to read the label carefully before buying a particular type of hair colorant because it can cause allergies in some people.
