Walking in High Heels

August 17, 2009

Stepping into high heels before a party, give you the required style and assurance. Long legs encased in impossibly high heels do lend you a seductive look. However tottering on 7 inch heels will not make you look chic. To carry off this particular type of footwear, you need to be able to move comfortably in it. It is not advisable to wear heels during pregnancy and certain other conditions. However, if you want to look tall and comfortable at the same time don’t discard your heels. Check out the following tips before you try out your high heels.

You need to buy the proper size for your feet. Take care to see that they don’t pinch your toes, nor should they be so loose so that they keep slipping off your feet.

If you are wearing heels for the first time, it is best to go for a medium height. Too long or too tapering heels will be impossible to manage at the beginning. It is a good idea to practice walking in your heels for a few minutes every day before you wear them for an occasion.

You also need to take care of your posture if you want to look smart and trendy in your heels. Keep your toes pointing straight ahead and legs close together. Try swinging your arms gently as you walk. This will help you to keep your balance.

Moisturize your feet well before stepping into the high heeled shoes. This will help to keep your feet soft and supple and you will not suffer from painful blisters and abrasions.

It is wise to choose shoes with soft soles and firm stitches. The straps should be comfortable against your skin. Check them out before you decide to buy your first pair of high heels.

Such shoes are not suitable for brisk walking or a high level of physical activities. However, make it a point to wear hem at least twice or thrice a week. This will help your feet get used to the weight applied on it.
