There are different types of headaches that people suffer from. It is first necessary to determine the type of headache before you move on to treating it.

Some people suffer from what is know as a cluster headache. This type of headache occurs on one side of the head and a person will get the pain regularly at the same place. There is a kind of burning pain in this kind of headache.

Some people suffer from tension headaches. In this case you will experience pain at the temples and the pain will move to the back of the head and neck and then slowly spread to the forehead as well. The main cause of this type of headache is bad posture.

There is another headache known as the simple headache which is the most common. In this case you will feel a banging sensation in your head and it is mainly caused due to stress or also changes in the weather, fever or at high altitudes.

In the case of those suffering from migraines you will have pain only on one side of the head. A migraine is the worst kind of headache and those suffering from migraines will experience vomiting and nausea. A disturbance of circulation in the brain is what the root cause of a migraine is. There may also be a certain smell, aroma or food which triggers the migraine and it is very difficult to find out the actual cause and cure it.

The last of the headaches is known as the combination headache. This usually occurs in the morning and comes between migraine attacks. It is a dull pain which lingers on through the day.

A good way to ease headaches and relieve some of the pain is to use a cold compress and apply it to the affected area for about twenty minutes. Massaging the scalp and head for a while also helps to ease the tension and pain.
