Treatment for Fading Your Freckles
Freckles on an upturned nose look cute. Almost every little girl is predisposed towards freckles. But this wish gradually wanes as one grows older and adult people just cannot wait long enough to get rid of their freckles.
Freckles are localized deposition of melanin pigments on the skin. They range from a light tan to dark brown in color and are often uneven in shape. Exposure to strong sunlight often aggravates freckles. This is especially found to be true in pale skinned people. Studies have suggested that they may be genetically influenced too. Red haired people are often seen to develop freckles.
There are a number of ways to remove freckles. Here are some of them:
Bleaching Creams- These creams can be bought over the counter and may help to obliterate the freckles completely. Direct application of bleaching creams over the freckles slow down the production of melanin and help in fading the freckles sufficiently.
Laser Resurfacing- This procedure involves removing the top most layer of the freckled skin with the aid of laser. It is performed by a qualified dermatologist and is done under local anesthesia. Recovery period may vary from 1 to 2 weeks.
Chemical peels- This process involves exfoliation of the skin by harsh chemicals. It is best if you engage a dermatologist for performing the procedure. The skin heals itself within a day or two. Sensitive skin may take a little longer to recover.
Cryotherapy- Liquid nitrogen is directly applied on the freckles and forms a blister. The blister along with the skin falls off after a few days. This process is usually painful and should not be repeated on the same area more than once a week.
Retinoids- This class of chemicals is related to Vitamin A and are used in the treatment of a variety of skin disorders including freckles. Application of Retinoid creams or gel may be successful in fading the freckles.
