Treating Squint
Squint is a very common eye defect and is also common in children. Sometimes children are born with this problem and in some cases can come up later on in life. Whatever the case the treatment for the problem of squint must be started immediately. A squint is very visible and affects the physical appearance of the person.In the case of children it is important that mothers tie up the child’s hair so that it does not fall in to their eyes and obstruct their vision. If your child is squint he or she will also need to wear spectacles.
To prevent squint in children avoid making them look in to the sun and also tell them not to try and imitate anyone who is suffering from squint. The treatment of a squint involves doing certain eye exercises which will strengthen the eye muscles and the person may have to wear an eye patch to cover the strong eye so that the one which is squint is used more. People suffering from squint should read in good light and avoid watching too much television; especially in the case of children.
Certain exercises like looking at the tip of the nose or at the tip of a pencil is highly beneficial in the case of people who are squint. you will find that the squint is more noticeable in the latter part of the day as the eye gets tired and begins to droop. Your doctor will inform you about all the exercises you can do to reduce the squint. If the squint is very bad and exercises is not helping then the doctor will determine whether it is necessary to correct the problem through a surgery.
Sometimes the person can also wear glasses that are specially designed for this problem. You will have to visit your eye doctor regularly to check how much improvement is there in the squint and to see if it is causing your eye sight to weaken. This is not a life threatening problem; but parents are often saddened to see their children with this problem. But the problem can be rectified when caught early and treated properly.
