Things you Should Know to Tackle Migraine

Migraine is an extreme form of headache that brings along inability to do any work and gets very intense. People have different symptoms of migraine but usually it is accompanied with vomiting, nausea or even sensitivity to light. People many a times face migraine repeatedly which alters their healthy lifestyle and is very disabling. Stress is one of the most common causes that leads to migraine attack, thus one should avoid stress at any cost to stay healthy. If encountered with a migraine attack, it is advisable to consult a doctor immediately. You can curb the headache by following these simple tips:

1.) Immediately take your medicines to get rid of your pain instantly. In fact when you just feel the pain approaching take your medicine at that instant of time as it will help prevent the migraine attack.  Some medicines which can help to reduce the pain are Excedrin, Motrin or Aleve.

2.) Lie Down and Relax. A bed or a couch whatever you notice first just get hold of it and lie down to relax. Close your eyes and don’t think about anything. Stop anything from coming into your mind and try to sleep. Try to ignore the pain and instead try to sleep. Shut down the lights of the room to make you feel that it is time to sleep. Also, shutting off the lights won’t bring in negative or disturbing thoughts in your mind.

3.) Apply an ice pack on your head by wrapping ice cubes in a piece of cloth and then applying it on your head so that it gets cool and also calms the blood vessels which have become swollen due to the migraine attack.

4.) Make sure there is silence around you. Even a little sound or disturbance can trigger your pain and affect you. Get to your room and shut the doors. However try and open the window so that you can have some fresh air. Fresh air will provide oxygen to your brain and relax the nerves.
