The Main Reasons for Weight Gain
Spring is in the air again. Most of us rejoice that the long winter is over as we look forward to shedding our voluminous heavy clothing. However, once we out of our coats and jackets we get the shock of our lives when we discover that we no longer fit into the skimpy dresses of last year simply because we have gained weight all through the cold and chilly months.
But why did we pile up those pounds when we do not recall gorging on food through the long winter months? the same holds true for the hot and sultry summer months. There are in fact quite a few reasons for gaining weight both in winters well as summer. Let us now go through them carefully.
The extreme cold or extreme heat makes us stay stationary and less active. The sum of the above mentioned causes ensures that we do not lose any of our body weight. On the contrary, we get to put on a few pounds in the bargain.
Sleep: Almost all of us tend to sleep for longer hours in the winter months. The nights are longer and we hate to get out of the warm bed in the early hours unless absolutely necessary. Our activities become almost nil making us burn less calories as a result. The heat during the summer is another predominant cause of feeling sleepy specially during a long and warm afternoon. Siesta during the day is equally responsible for weight gain as well.
Exercise: Habitual morning walkers also turn lazy in extreme weather. The extreme cold and heat makes us feel scared of going out into the open. For the ones who are busy during the entire day do not have any exercise at all making them put on quite a bit of weight.
Appetite: We all feel hungrier after a hard days work and look forward to eating fried food as well. The consumption of hot beverages like coffee and tea increases considerably too making a few of us intake an increased amount of the fattening sugar or cream with them too.
Alcohol: Indulging in alcohol while partying is a common occurrence resulting in an increase of body weight.
