The Health Benefits of Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus oil has been used over the years and is very well known or its curative properties. It is most  commonly used  in cases of fever and is sometimes also called the fever tree. It is also effective in certain skin problems and also colds and other respiratory problems.The distinct smell of eucalyptus oil works very well as a decongestant. It is also full of antibodies which is very good for the system.

Mix a few drops of eucalyptus oil along wit h lemon oil and the aroma which is given out is very good to pep you up. If you have got hurt, got a burn or an insect bite, apply some amount of eucalyptus oil on a cotton or a gauze and press it on the affected area. This will help kill the germs and disinfect the portion.

For someone who is suffering from a cough and has a lot of phlegm apply a little eucalyptus oil and massage the chest area. This will help to loosen the phlegm. You will find your breathing will be more comfortable. Be careful when applying eucalyptus oil on the skin as an excess amount can cause irritation.

Eucalyptus oil should not be used for children under the age of seven. Eucalyptus oil is very effective in the case of those suffering from dandruff. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil into your shampoo and massage it into your hair. Regular use of this will reduce your dandruff greatly.

If you are suffering from a cold or a blocked nose, apply a few drops of eucalyptus oil on a handkerchief and inhale the scent. At night, you can sprinkle a few drops on your pillow so that you inhale it to release chest congestion and a blocked nose.

Eucalyptus oil is also good for easing muscle cramps and pains. Mix about ten drops of oil along with almond oil and massage it into the joints to relieve the pain.

Eucalyptus oil is used to kill bacteria and germs in the air. Mix some eucalyptus oil in a diffuser and spray it in your room. This will help you purify and clean the room.
