The Dangers of Yo-Yo Dieting

The off and on dieting is better known by the name yo-yo dieting. This type of dieting is very bad for your health because it does not leave room for your body to settle. There are also diseases that can develop owing to this type of dieting namely gallstones, heart attacks and others.

You are also prone to develop strokes because every time you gain and then lose weight arteries stiffen leading to these conditions. You may also suffer from a weak immune system because you may be forcing your body to gain and lose weight alternative which will make you susceptible to various diseases. Some studies also show that this type of dieting can make you gain weight actually. Studies on rats showed that they regained fat every time they dieted. They also regained weight at a faster rate.

Mental, emotional frustration can also result from this type of dieting that can result in mood upswings, low self-esteem and disorganized eating. Long term fatigue of a person’s metabolic rate can also result from this type of dieting. There is also an increased risk towards osteoporosis, fractures and other joint related problems. Issues with memory can also crop up.

However in spite of the downsides associated with yo-yo dieting, it is a great tool for weight loss and obese people can definitely give it a try for losing pounds quickly. These diets while no doubt useful they must be combined with a good exercise program and changes on lifestyle so that effective results can be seen. Life is to be enjoyed and you must start enjoying the food you eat. You must drink and eat in moderation.

Whichever diet you follow the main point is that you must love yourself and treasure it and not deprive yourself. Also irrespective of the diet you must stay away from fried food or junk food especially if you are obese. Without depriving yourself you must train your brain to enjoy goods habits so that obesity will become a thing of the past. In this way you can also say bye to diets forever!
