The Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

If you have taken up a job which requires working long hours on the computer, you will need to take care as this could be the beginning of a new problem. It is necessary to take care to see that you do not slouch or sit on the bed, especially while using a lap top. Your posture plays a great role in the problems you could end up with. You may think that certain back pain is due to your sleeping posture, but it could well be caused by the wrong posture you are using while working on the lap top on the bed. It is useful to remember that long hours on the lap top will mean that there will be lots more problems.

You may experience back and neck pain, and muscle spasms. Shoulder pain can also be caused due to the constant movement of hands on the computer. Sitting on the chair may cause pain on the buttocks and go up to the spine as well. The cure for this is not having a hot bath or getting a massage to soothe your nerves. The effect of these will only be temporary.

If you are already experiencing these problems, the dangers have already started. The so called pain on the shoulder can travel through your arms moving to the wrist and fingers as well. You may begin to experience a numbness and tingling if you do not take appropriate care in time. This is what is called a Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. How you work on the computer keyboard and how you sit plays a very important role in dealing with this problem. You should try and keep your fingers as straight as possible and you must know the correct art of typing using all your fingers.

The way you use your fingers of the keyboard can exert pressure on the nerves causing this problem. Wrong use of the keyboard may result in your wrists to swell also, and you may find it more difficult to move your arms and fingers as freely as you were able to do earlier.
