The Allergic Reaction

An allergy can be described as sensitiveness of the body to a substance which does not normally affect other persons. There are innumerable substances in today’s environment which can cause mild to violent reactions in many people.

These reactions range from true allergies due to intolerance of certain foods an substances to those resulting from pollution.

The substances which disturb highly sensitive people are known as allergens. These can enter the body through food, air or the skin. Allergies can result from fumes from appliances such as gas stoves, heaters, furnaces, aerosol sprays such as paint, lacquers, room deodorants, hair sprays or Even cleansers. Most odorous chemicals and various types of dust, cosmetic, perfumes, soaps, dentifrices, inorganic hair dyes, plastics, certain drugs including antibiotics and tranquilisers may be also cause allergies. Even vitamins cause trouble for some people though this is often due to the sugar coating on the tablets or capsules. There are other culprits which are difficult to pinpoint.

In the food department, the list of allergens is endless. additives and refinements are responsible for the rise in allergies. The trouble is not only in the foods themselves, but in what is done to them. they are sprayed, gassed, coloured, preserved for longer life and generally perverted.

There are numerous environmental contamination’s collecting in our water and food.  These include lead, mercury, asbestos and various radioactive substances. There is also smog, wit hits many chemical irritants and fluoride, deliberately added to water without any regard for those who may be allergic to it.

The reaction symptoms of allergy include recurring headaches, migraines, dizziness, irritability, nervousness, depression, sneezing, conjunctivitis, diabetes eczema and heartburn to name a few. The same food can cause different symptoms in different people. Many allergies ar multiple and may be caused by multiple allergens.

It is believed that the major cause of allergy is feeding babies foods such as cereals, meat, corn, whole milk etc. before they reach the age of ten to twelve months. These foods cause allergic reactions as babies lack the proper enzymes needed for the digestion before that age. Emotional and psychological stresses can also lead to allergies.
