Symptoms of Drug Abuse

Cases of drug abuse are rapidly increasing these days.The stressful lifestyle and and the increasing pressure are forcing people to seek temporary relief from all sorts of stress in forms of many drugs.  However the temporary relief may be addictive and it can lead to serious mental and physical problem.The problem is more with the teenagers so it is always good to look for the symptoms of drug abuse in your children so that you can stop them before it is too late.

Although the symptoms may vary for various drugs, however we are giving you some common symptoms so that you can identify them in the beginning.

There are some basic physical symptoms of drug abuse. Generally person become suddenly very lethargic and stay away from physical work. At times there may be a feeling of giddiness. Also person starts suffering from insomnia and have sleepless nights or disturbed sleeps. At times there is a sudden loss in appetite. In other extremes there can be sudden increase in appetite that may result in massive weight gain or weight loss.

After some weeks you may notice staggering  movement or disoriented body language in the person and there is a very poor coordination in the body parts. Most of the time eyes are heavy and eyes are watery and red and at times swollen and most of the time nose are either blocked or running, as in the case of common cold.

In some severe cases there may be tremours and cold sweats. Also patient may suffer palpitation and irregular heartbeat. Also there is poor memory and victims of drug abuse generally have difficulty in concentrating. Also generally the speech become slurred.

Apart from that there are significant behavioral changes in the victims of drug abuse. Most of the time there is sudden sense of detachment and aloofness. There are some frequent mood changes and there can be some violent tempers. People become suddenly too sensitive. Often they become secretaive.

Most of the time they are dismissed as common teenager problem but it is always good to be watchful. Remember prevention is better than cure.
