Symptoms and Treatment of Typhoid
When a person suffers from typhoid he can symptoms such as high fever and abdominal symptoms with ulceration of bowels. This disease is caused by salmonella typhi. You must take acute care because this disease can relapse frequently and the fever can continue for uncertain duration.
An infectious disease, typhoid fever can be contracted from carriers or from other children who may have suffered from it.
When a child suffers from typhoid he/she may experience symptoms such as tiredness, chills and headache. They can also suffer from loss of appetite, constipation or diarrhea and back ache. In the early stage of the disease, patients can also suffer from bronchitis and the disease can be confused with pneumonia.
A patient can also develop skin rashes, ulceration of bowels and inflammation of the bones. White patches can appear on the surface of the tongue which can also become dry. By the end of the fourth week the fever can be brought under control.
The main cause for this disease is poor sanitation. Contaminated water can also be the reason for the spread of this disease. Some people called carriers can also spread the disease. The bacteria can survive in the gall bladder for years even after the patient has fully recovered from this disease.
This can make the person a carrier. The infection can spread when such a person is employed in serving or preparing food. Flies can also contaminate food by carrying germs into the house. Germs can cause ulceration and irritation of the lower small bowel by entering the body through the mouth.
This disease is known to develop in small children who have a build up of toxic waste and other putrefactive matter in his intestine because of wrong diet pattern or an unhealthy lifestyle. Germs causing typhoid thrive in this condition of the intestine.
Children and others who are habituated to eating more of fleshy food stuffs and meat are more prone towards this disease. This is because these foods can putrefy and decompose easily within the intestines. By following a healthy lifestyle and dietary pattern you can control the disease to a large extent.
Careful nursing and complete bed rest is vital in the treatment of this condition in younger patients. Liquid diet such as barley, fruit juices and milk are preferable during the treatment process.
