Surviving Asthma

Asthma is a very common problem and it is also a very dangerous one. It can occur in children as well as adults, and you need to understand if you are suffering from the problem.Asthma is also increasing due to higher levels of pollution in the environment. Asthma can be cared for and controlled quite easily, if it is detected in the early stages. For someone who is a chronic sufferer, damage can be caused to the air passages. Having an attack of asthma can be a terrible experience for the person as you feel that you are being choked to death. This needs immediate attention, and people suffering from asthma need to carry an air pump with them, or arry a nebulizer of necessary.

There are lots of things that can start an attack of asthma. It can be cigarette smoke, coughing, or even an emotional imbalance. If you are a sufferer of asthma, it is better to wear a mask covering your nose and mouth, and avoid going to be places with lots of people and dust.

it is better to breathe through your nose rather than the mouth, since the air gets filtered in the process. Avoid getting a cold and cough by increasing your intake of vitamin c not by medication, but through your diet. A good way to make your lungs stronger and keep a check on asthma reducing its effect would be to take up swimming. Swimming involves holding your breath under water and it helps strengthen your lungs.

Make sure there in increased moisture in your room. You may use a humidifier if necessary. Stop smoking if at all you are, as it totally damages your lungs. If you do not smoke and do suffer from asthma, avoid being in the same room with smokers.

Do a lot of steaming. This will help you clear your nose and throat. Keep your room and surroundings clean and dust free. stay away from plants as they make contain pollen which could also act as a trigger for asthma. This would be a good time to avoid keeping pets as well.
