Surgery For Removing Body Fat

Flaunting a perfect figure has become almost an obsession today. People are ready to go through any amount of trouble just so they can look good physically. For some persons its easy, a healthy diet coupled with working out at the gym reduces all those extra kilos accumulated at the wrong places. Not so for others, try as they might, they can never lose the fat specially from areas like the abdomen and thighs.

A typical type of cosmetic surgery is required to remove the morbid fat from these areas. This is known as Liposuction literally meaning sucking out of the fat. It is, actually a body contouring process and not an alternative to regular weight losing techniques.

Risks-The method is associated with normal risks associated with surgery it also can be life threatening if a large amount of body fat is removed. Fat is usually removed from the abdomen and thighs for women and the abdomen and flanks for men. In spite of the risks involved, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has reported it as the most popular form of all cosmetic surgeries performed in the developed countries.

Eligbility- A perfect candidate for liposuction must be an adult, free from infections and chronic diseases. Liposuction is only attempted when the person is unable to lose weight from certain parts of the body after trying out all the other conservative ways of reducing fat. In senior people, the laxity of skin may need an additional surgical procedure like the abdominoplasty commonly known as the ‘tummy tuck’.

Techniques- An ideal liposuction technique should involve:-
-Removal of the proper amount of fat from the body.
-No damage to the blood vessels and surrounding tissue.
-No disturbance to the fluid balance.
-Minimal amount of surgical trauma.

Return to Normal Life- The patient can get back to his/her normal routine after an average period of 10-15 days. Once the swelling and the bruising effects subside, the results of the surgery becomes obvious. However, the patient to take care is to maintain a proper diet and exercise to maintain the proper body contour
