Reversing a Tan

The color of our skin darkens on being exposed to the sun. Some of you prefer lying for hours on the sea beach in order to acquire a healthy tan. A few people, on the other hand, do not cherish the thought of looking dark and are extremely uncomfortable if they tan naturally. As with most things, there are no shortcuts to getting rid of a tan. You need to be patient, keep away from skin bleaches and prevent further exposure to the sun. Avoiding the sun completely will not be healthy in the long run a you risk being deficient in vitamin D.

Prevention of exposure- It is best to avoid the sun’s rays between the hours of 10A.M. to 4 P.M. Wearing protective clothing as well as sun glasses and a hat will help to keep your skin light. Make sure to use a sun screen liberally over the exposed parts of your skin when you venture out.

Exfoliating- Removing the dead skin cells by means of exfoliating can make your tan go away. Use a loofah or exfoliating brush when you shower. Rubbing vigorously with a towel after bath may also help to remove the dead skin. Concentrate on tan lines during exfoliating if you want to revive the original color of your skin completely.

Lemon- The age old treatment with  half  a slice of lemon may help to lighten your skin considerably. You just need to rub the affected area with the lemon slice for a couple of minutes. Take care to rinse of the lemon completely from your skin after the bath. The citric acid present in the lemon will exfoliate your skin effectively leaving you with a  pale, soft and lemony fresh skin.

Time- Even if you don’t try actively, your tan will fade away with time provided you prevent re exposure to the sun. Using harsh chemicals for treating the skin is not necessary just for ridding your skin of the tan.
