Remedies for Bleeding Gums

Bleeding gums or gingivitis is a common problem. You will find many otherwise healthy persons being affected by it. Although the problem itself may not look serious it may be  caused by serious underlying medical condition.

Causes- Brushing our teeth too hard may cause injury to the gums leading them to bleed at times. Hormonal changes during pregnancy may also cause the gums to bleed. Improper flossing may also contribute to bleeding gums. Teeth or gum diseases including other diseases of the mouth cavity may be characterized by bleeding gums too. Serious conditions like scurvy or leukemia as well as the cancer of the oral cavity may cause your gums to bleed.

Natural Cures- There are several natural remedies available if you want to take care of your bleeding gums.

The best way would be to simply brush your teeth properly with a herbal toothpaste. Using a herbal mouth wash also helps considerably in eliminating the condition. Gargling with warm saline water is another way of getting rid of bleeding gums. Using Hydrogen peroxide in the water can prove to be helpful too. Rubbing clove oil on your gums may sting a little but is very effective in combating gingivitis. Chewing on a piece of clove also helps. You can also rub aloe vera pulp on the affected gums.

Gargling after applying aloe vera and repeating the process yet again is very effective in treating bleeding gums. Rubbing a mixture of baking soda and water on your gums with the aid of your finger may also help to minimize the problem. This will also help in neutralizing the acidic effect of bacteria. Consuming fresh fruits and vegetables rich in Vitamin C help in keeping gingivitis at bay. Cranberry juice can be used in treating gingivitis. However, you must make sure that the juice does not contain any sugar in it. Toothpastes containing sage oil and peppermint oil is recommended for people suffering from gingivitis.
