Relieve your Headache the natural way
Headaches can be very uncomfortable indeed. If you are prone to headaches, you would know how the lights of your room, hum of the conversation around you or even music may set off ripples of pain through your head making you want to just bury your head under the bedclothes. Taking over the counter drugs may bring momentary relief, however, too much of them may have serious health implications as well. It has been seen that a headache can be relieved to a great extent by following a few age old methods.
Grandma’s Recipes:Lying down with a cold compress on your forehead will help to lessen the pain considerably. Taking a short nap will also prove to be effective particularly if your headache was caused on account of agitated nerves. Eating a few home baked cookies with lots of sugar in it will help you to feel comfortable as well. Squeezing the bridge of your nose in between your thumb and index finger may help you relieve the pressure off your temples. Massaging the temples gently will produce a soothing effect too.
Exercises: Jogging or walking in fresh air will help you to feel better. The natural environment acts as a soothing balm and your head will stop pounding in no time at all.
Herbs- Several herbs can be used to cure the headache. Peppermint is a natural pain reliever and has a rejuvenating effect after an excruciatingly painful headache. Cloves added to cinnamon oil and applied liberally on the aching temples work wonders and you will be absolutely free of the headache within a small period of time. Application of a ginger and milk mixture works particularly well too. The anti inflammatory properties of ginger can help to prevent all kinds of aches and pains if you add a little of it to your meal each day.
Oil Massage- Massaging your scalp thoroughly with a mixture of almond, sesame and mustard oils will help to get rid of your headache pretty fast too.
Aromatherapy- Lying down in the dark with scented candles giving out a mild and soothing odor may induce sleep. You will find your headache gone after you have had a restful sleep with the aid of aromatherapy. Lavender and passionflower are used in aromatherapy in order to relax the mind and alleviate the stress and fatigue from the body.
