Relief From Chronic Back Pain

Sometimes people know just what is triggering their back pain. For others, back pain becomes a part of their life. It can come for no apparent reasons and be there for any amount of time. This is what is chronic back pain. There are some things that can help people suffering from chronic pain. Check your mattress to see if it sagging in the spot where you sleep on it. The harder the mattress, the better it is for your back pain. It is worth trying to sleep on the floor if you feel better that way.

One of the best positions to sleep in is the fetal position. Keep a pillow between your knees and sleep on any side that you are comfortable in. You are sure to sleep like a baby.

You can opt for sleeping on a water bed as it is an excellent way to cure back pain. Another good position is to sleep in an ‘S’ position. The pillow should be kept between your head and neck. Another pillow should be kept under your knees. The bending of your knees will take the pressure off your back.

Do not constantly think of your pain. Try and think of other things and occupy yourself. An excellent form of exercise that can help you ease your back pain is to do Tai Chi. It makes you do slow movements with utmost concentration which will help ease your back pain.

If you are driving, take care on the seat of the car. Get a seat which has lumbar support and adjust it according to how comfortable you are.

Whenever you are getting out of bed, make sure you turn to one side, gently lift your body and then get up. Getting up instantly without turning is actually doubling the weight of your body and putting that much more pressure on your back.

If your chronic pain has not subsided even if you have done these home cures and it has been more than three weeks since you got it, you must visit the doctor. If your back pain is going down towards the leg, knee and foot, it is also a cause of worry and you would need medical attention.
