Preventing An Asthma Attack
Those who are suffering from asthma can only themselves know how difficult and scary it can be when they experience an attack. Asthma can sometimes be triggered very easily. In order to prevent an attack of asthma at home, these are some of the simple tips that you should use.Cover your mouth and nose when you are breathing, especially if you are going into the kitchen or opening the main door. Keep a gap of at least two hours between your meal time and when you go to bed. Always sleep on two or three pillows so that your neck and head are well elevated.
If there is a lot of fluctuation in weather and you are warm indoors and it is freezing outdoors, avoid opening the door when the bell rings. If you have a fire place in your house, make sure that it is airtight and your rooms should also be well ventilated as throwing wood logs in the fireplace can aggravate an attack of asthma due to the particles that come out of the fire.
If you are an asthmatic, you should totally avoid smoking and also make sure that you do not inhale passive smoke. Avoid going to bars and pubs and make sure the people in your house do not smoke. The best climate for asthmatics is a dry and warm climate.
Understand the kinds of food that you are eating which may be aggravating your asthma attack. Avoid milk and milk products as well as sea foods. Also reduce your intake of salt as this can also aggravate asthma attacks in some cases. Be careful when you are eating Chinese food which contains MSG. This must be totally avoided.
If you are a very severe asthmatic, avoid being in the kitchen and cooking food. Even the smells in the kitchen can aggravate an attack.
You need to understand the pattern of asthma and you will surely understand the warning signs before your attack is actually triggered. Try and attack it early. Make sure you have your inhaler with you and is easily accessible at all times.
