Peyronie’s Disease – Symptoms and Treatment

Peyronie’s disease refers to the condition wherein plaques or abnormal tissue grows inside the penis area. When a person suffers from this condition, his penis is painful and bent during erection. Those suffering from this condition generally suffer from stress and anxiety and can also face problems when he indulges in sex.
Non-surgical treatments are not known to give satisfactory results for Peyronie’s disease. Doctors recommend surgery to set right the bent or curved penis in case the deformity prevents satisfactory sexual activity. This symptoms associated with this condition may surface suddenly or develop over a period of time. The most common signs of Peyronie’s disease include the deformed penis, bent penis on one side, curved penis or penis with hourglass appearance.
The curvature can also deteriorate gradually within the first 18 months. Some people also experience recurred deformities following erections. With the onset of symptoms, some people also experience acute pain. Pain may occur during an orgasm, an erection, when the penis is touched etc.
The plaques or scar tissue related with Peyronie’s disease can be felt as lumps or hard tissue below the surface of the skin on the penis. Other symptoms associated with this condition include shortened penis, difficulty maintaining or achieving an erection and others.

Mechanical penis enlargement devices cannot be of much help in solving the problem. The best way to treat this condition is to let the body heal naturally. You can try herbal medicines to improve tissue health of the penis region to get relief from this condition.
Vitamin E and drugs such as aminobenzoate potassium can be of help for some men. Potaba is a prescription medicine. However, you must take care not to take too much of potaba or Vitamin E because these can hurt your liver. Potaba can give a nauseating feeling and make you lose your appetite. Intralesional injection is another way to solve the problem. In this case the doctor may give you an injection directly into the scar tissue.
