Cancer has become a menace which is spreading with little to stop it. There is nothing to say that a particular person can be free from it, or has little danger of getting it. Women have a lot of risk of getting cancer. They can get cancer of the breasts, uterus, tubes and even the ovaries. Women must be specially cautious about their lives, and get themselves screened regularly, especially after the age of thirty five. Today, an alarming number of cancer cases have been noticed in younger people, and no slightest symptom should be ignored.
Cancer of the ovaries is becoming more and more common. Although it can be treated and life can be lengthened if it is detected in the early stages, it can prove fatal when detected later.
Most often, people tend to start worrying if they some problems with their period. This could be either a heave flow accompanied by cramps, or if they have scanty, irregular periods. They also start to pay attention if they have some complication or inability in conceiving.
You must pay a little attention to your abdomen too. Sometimes, if you find that your stomach feels very bloated and this sensation does not go down even after a few days, you must get yourself checked. It is sometimes normal to feel bloated before you get your period since there is bound to be some water retention. However, if this is prolonged, you must watch out for trouble. Some other problems that could also be signals are feeling full and heavy all the time, difficult in eating and also pelvic pain.
If you have any of these symptoms, you must visit your doctor for a check up immediately. You will, in all probability, have an internal examination done to check for any irregularities and lumps. You could also be sent for a blood test and an ultrasound. If there is any malignancy found, you will have to have your ovaries removed. In some cases, the tubes are also removed along with it.
