Natural Foods can Lower your Cholesterol
High levels of cholesterol are often diagnosed in people who lead a sedentary life and survive on high fat content, non vegetarian diet which includes little or no fiber. Physicians often prescribe drugs for bringing down the cholesterol levels effectively. However, taking medicines for lowering cholesterol levels may cause a lot of other problems as well. Soreness of muscles is a common symptom caused by severe reaction of the liver to the prescribed cholesterol reducing drugs.
Natural Foods- There is absolutely no reason to suffer from side effects when you have a veritable plethora of natural foods which can do the work just as well.
Beans- Beans as well as legumes are well known for their high protein content. But most people are ignorant of the fact that these very same beans are rich in fiber as well. Eating at least 8 ounces of any regular kind of beans will actually help to keep your bad cholesterol level under control. It is essential that you use the low sugar variety if you consider eating canned beans instead.
Garlic- One of the most active herbs in the natural food family is garlic. Ajoene is a compound present in garlic which actually inhibits the production of lipids causing an appreciable lowering of blood cholesterol levels. Garlic is also well known for its blood thinning properties and allows for easy passage of the life giving fluid through cholesterol hardened blood vessels. Garlic drives away bad cholesterol and promotes good cholesterol as well. The raw form of garlic is usually more effective for keeping cholesterol levels in check.
Oatmeal- A breakfast of oatmeal porridge will also help to keep your cholesterol level in control. Oatmeal helps in regulating blood sugar levels too keeping you healthy in the long run.
A positive outlook and a healthy lifestyle are two other parameters most effective in keeping bad cholesterol away. However, you need to consult with your doctor regularly even if you are not in favor of using cholesterol reducing medicines.
