Constipation is the result of the loss of desire to evacuate. This occurs mainly due to lack of proper eating habits, intake of less fluid, and lowered physical activity.It is better to try and use natural ways to cure laxatives rather than start taking laxatives right away. Most often you will be able to cure constipation easily using some easy tips.
You should start by getting into regular bowel habits. Start by trying to keep one fixed time everyday where you will need to go to the toilet. By making this a practice of this, you will be able to have a more controlled, regular habit for going to the toilet.
Start by having a warm beverage first thing in the morning. Having a warm drink like a glass of warm water or even some warm coffee or tea as soon as you wake up will help you. These drinks help in stimulating the gastrocolic reflex, and set up the desire to pass stools.
Avoid drinking too much tea of coffee through the day. There are very high levels of tannin and caffeine in both drinks. They all contribute and cause constipation in people.
Try some simple exercises which can help cure constipation. These include sit ups, and even squats. These will help put more pressure on the lower abdomen and help increase the urge to pass stools.
Make your diet more vegetarian. This should help in keeping constipation away. You should also have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables since they have lots of roughage. Try and avoid over cooking and cook the food as little as possible.
Plenty of natural laxatives exist in the form of fruits like figs, raisins and bananas. Make sure you have plenty of these everyday. This will not only help in curing constipation, but will also make sure that you do not get it again.
The most important thing to do is to stop obsessing about constipation. The more you think and worry about your constipation, the more it will bother you. Take it a little more easy, and you will find that the problem worries you less.
