The first thing that must be borne in mind is that you must eat more calories than you burn. You must select healthy and rich foods to gain weight. You can also add calories by drinking beverages.  Frequent consumption of nutritious food can also help you to gain weight. You must eat at least 3 large meals and 3 smaller meals everyday alternately.

You must have a balanced diet and exercise regularly to gain weight. You can increase the muscle mass through resistance training exercises which can improve your metabolism. You must clearly know the distinction between weight gaining and weight losing exercise and take up weight gaining ones. Also existing muscle can break down if you do not get sufficient amino acids while exercising. This can be derived from foods rich in proteins.

There are plenty of foods that can help you to gain weight. Protein helps you to build muscle mass. You can improve your weight by including high protein foods in your diet. Your protein intake must come from foods and not from protein supplements. There are several sources of protein which can be considered very good namely fish, dairy products, whey, unroasted nuts, meats and seeds. Milk is the richest source of protein for children.

This is because it contains both casein and whey which can be broken down into amino acids. While including healthy fats, include polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats including omega-3 essential fatty acids which have immense health benefits. Good fats also come from oils such as sunflower, linseed, olive, canola and others. You also need to include complex carbohydrates if you wish to gain weight. Drinking beer will only lead to a fat abdomen and not an all round increase in weight. It is better to take doctor’s guidance if you wish to consume protein supplements.
