In the Summertime

he summers are when one loves to indulge themselves. Whether with delicious treats like ices and ice creams, holidays to the beach and seas, or even great summer sports, the summers bring with them holidays and happiness.
The holidays are, unfortunately also a time when we are most likely to catch infection. Caused from the heat and the stagnation, and also from the foods and fluids that we indulge in, we are more susceptible to many infections. Here are some you should watch for.
Skin : The nails are likely to get dirtier faster, and any itching that occurs can cause infections of the skin to spread faster. This is also true for the hair. The hair gets stickier and dirtier faster from sweating, and inability to keep it clean and washed regularly can cause problems of the hair and scalp too. Dandruff starts to affect the skin too. You are also more likely to get some itching in areas like the underarms, groin and neck from sweating. You must keep yourself clean by bathing often, cool by having baths in cold or very lukewarm water, and airy. Wear light loose clothing during these months.
Stomach : Stomach infections are very common during this time. Food has the tendency to spoil faster during these times, and we are more likely to be eating stale food if it has been left open for long. Avoid eating foods from the street, no matter how tempting. Since the temperatures are high, foods are more likely to spoil in the sun and undergo changes in their composition. Also avoid all colas and fluids that are not packaged and bottled. Ice lollies should also be had only if packaged properly. Avoid having juices from vendors on the street. Unclean water can cause serious problems of the stomach.
Eyes : The harsh sunlight can cause a lot of damage to the eyes. They can make the eyes burn and reduce the brightness in the eyes. The eyes also get drier much faster, and the dust also affects the eyes faster. You also have the chance of developing conjunctivitis faster. Make sure you clean the eyes constantly using fresh, cold water. You can also try using rose water to clean the eyes and keep them feeling fresh. Drink plenty of water to keep the eyes moist from within as well.
