Importance of immunization and sanitation in taking care of the baby

You must see your doctor regularly which is very vital for the healthy growth of the baby and to keep him/her healthy. During your regular baby checkups, your baby will also be given the much needed vaccinations. Though there is a great controversy regarding the need for immunizations, it is worth giving them the same from the long term point of view as they can be protected against deadly diseases.

By following good hygiene you can protect your babies from harmful effects of changing seasons and the pollutants that come with it. You can wash the hands of babies with an antibacterial soap. This simple habit can itself prevent over ninety nine percent of all germs.

You must also practice clean habits when going to the supermarkets. It is a well known fact that shopping carts are replete with germs. Before placing your baby on such shopping carts, use a baby seat cover or use some sanitizing wipes. You must take efforts to clean the cart area where you will be placing your child. You can even select alcohol wet wipes which are very effective for this purpose. These can be procured from the pharmacy and work wonders in cleaning any surface which your baby will come in touch with.

Your older children must be made to wash their hands before touching or cuddling the younger children or babies. This is because school buses can be full of germs and your older children should preferably have a bath after returning from school and coming in contact with the baby at home. Also if there are symptoms of illness in your older children, then they should be refrained from touching your small baby.

When you are in public and if some strangers wish to touch or cuddle your baby, prevent them from doing so politely. It is better to be on the safer side because you may not know anything about such people’s health or family background. It is very important to pay attention to the cleanliness of the nanny handling the baby in case you are hiring one. You can hire them after knowing about their experience and cleanliness through trusted friends or relatives.
