Symptoms- However, once they find themselves within the closed walls, they start panicking. The attack that comes on robs people of their reasoning power as well. Yelling, hitting out blindly and shaking uncontrollably are the predominant signs of a claustrophobic attack. You might find yourself breaking out in cold sweat and feel as if you are slowly getting enveloped by darkness. Losing consciousness is not unheard of either. However, this is only known to occur in extreme conditions.
Most people also get embarrassed as they are all educated and can realize the futility of their actions. But at the moment of panic they lose all sense of reason.
So what can actually be a solution for claustrophobia? Is it at all possible to get rid of it all together? Let’s find out.
The best way to combat such attacks is to analyze the situation once you have recovered. Question yourself whether you could have handled it better. The ideal way to prepare yourself is to convince yourself that the feeling does not have, any connection with the reality whatsoever. You will find yourself being able to reason out the entire situation step by step and overcome it eventually.
But how will you do it in the first place? Simply try some deep breathing techniques. Once you begin to feel an urge of crying out as your anxiety starts mounting, inhale deeply through your nostrils and wait awhile, preferably count 1 to 10 before exhaling slowly. Surprisingly, you will find yourself so intent on breathing that you will never realize that you are within a closed space.
It is also imperative to practice the breathing exercises quite a few times before you can actually use it during a period of crisis.
