How to Prevent Sun Allergy
Scorching direct sunlight has very is damaging effect on our skin. But the risk of the damage multiples if the person is suffering from sun allergy.
What is sun allergy?
Sun allergy is caused when our body system overreacts to the sunlight. A person suffering from sun allergy gets red patchy skin, itching sensation, rashes, pigmentation and broken skin in the area exposed to sun, sometimes within few minutes of sunlight exposure. However the intensity and severity of the effect varies from person to person.
How to avoid sun allergy?
The most effective way to deal with sun allergy is to avoid the sunlight but if you cannot avoid the hot sun there are some handy tips to minimize the damaging effect of sunlight on our skin. Remember prevention is always better than cure.
Right diet for sun allergy
People who are allergic to sun should take foods which are rich in Beta carotene and vitamin C. Beta Carotene prevents and reduces the harmful effect of sunlight and Vitamin C helps in healing the damages faster. Also take minimum 10 to 12 glasses of water daily.
Shield against sun
Use good quality sunscreen with SPF 30 or more before going out in the sun. In many cases certain chemicals in our cosmetics also trigger sun allergy. So use cosmetics or sunscreen which have less chemical component.
Use natural sunscreen
Sandalwood is a natural sunscreen very effective for sun allergy. Make a paste of red sandalwood with rose water and apply it on your body about an hour before going to sun. It not only shield you against sun allergy, but also protects your skin from tanning and adds a natural glow to your skin.
Dress up in such a way that leaves less scope for sun exposure. Still it you find wearing sleeveless or a sexy backless tempting, pair it with a hat, or long scarf. Carrying umbrella is not a bad idea either.
Natural remedies for sun allergy
But even after these precautions you develop some rashes or itching, there are some home remedies for you. Immediately wash the affected area with with oatmeal paste mixed with water. Pat it dry and apply aloe vera gel mixed with lavender oil. Aloe Vera is very effective for curing rashes and give a quick soothing effect.
