How to find your skin type

One beauty treatment cannot suit all for the simple reason that the skin tone and texture varies from person to person. Broadly the skin types is divided into five broad categorie

All our daily care for skin, diet, make up and face packs all depends on what skin type we belong to. A beauty treatment for oily skin will not suit those with dry skin. So it is important to determine our skin type.

By knowing correct skin type you can be able to select your makeup and homecare for your skin. There are methods by which you can determine your skin type yourself at home. What all you will need is water face wash and a face tisssue.

Wash your face throughly with a mild face wash. Now pat your skin dry with a towel. Do not apply any moisturizer or toner and leave it for 30 minutes. Now put a face tissue to cover your face and press it. If there is no trace of oil on your face it means that your skin is dry. Generally dry skin are flaky, without natural oil the skin is generally patchy and even washing with plain water dries it off.

If the face tissue has even but a very thin layer of oil, it means your skin is normal. This is the best skin type with lots of essential oil present in the skin to keep it soft and smooth. They are easy to maintain.

If the tissue has a good deposit of oil on the face it means you havev an oily skin. These skin types have excessive oil and have an oily shine and is characterized with large open pores and are greasy and are prone to blackheads.

If the tissue have oil layer on the T zone that is nose and forehead and no trace of oil on the cheeks that means you have got a combination skin. Generally this skin type has oily nose and forehead areas but dry and flaky cheeks.

There is another skin type that is characterized by the the reaction of your skin to outside substance. These skin types may be combination skin or dry but becomes red after washing or rubbing, are very prone to irritation often break outs and allergic reactions.
