Home Remedies to Stop Bleeding
Any minor injury or laceration of the skin might lead to extensive bleeding. Most of us tend to get scared at the sight of blood and start over loading the injured area with antiseptics, antibiotics as well gauze bandages. However, there are numerous ways to stem the bleeding and home remedies usually prove to be more effective especially if the injury is not very serious.
Using certain naturally occurring ingredient will help to hasten the normal healing processes of the body without any harmful side effects. You do not have to go out of your way to obtain the ingredients in order to stop bleeding, you can find them easily enough if you take a good look at your kitchen.
Pressure- Applying pressure on the wound can stop the bleeding immediately. The pressure needs to be applied directly on the wound or as near the wound as possible in order to stop the flow of blood. If the blood starts to gush out it will be wise to apply a tourniquet. Any handy piece of material like a rope, sock or scarf may be used to temporarily tie up the affected limb thereby staunching the flow of blood. It is also necessary to remove the tourniquet once the blood clots. Keeping it on may prove to be a fatal mistake.
Vinegar- Using full strength vinegar directly on the wound after washing it clean with water will help to prevent infection. Vinegar is also known for its analgesic properties and helps to dry out the skin appreciably.
Olive Oil- Using olive oil instead of vinegar may also prove to be as effective. The healthy edible oil has both bacteria destroying as well as analgesic properties. The skin around the wound may become discolored or disfigured and using olive oil regularly on it will help to restore the natural moisture of the skin.
Honey- You can try using honey directly on the wound if you are afraid that the wound will leave an ungainly scar after healing.
