Healthy Protein Drink
Protein is essential for our body. In fact they are known as the building blocks of our body and our diet must include a lot of protein if we want to stay healthy. However, sometimes we often fail to incorporate the adequate amount of protein in our daily diet and have to resort to various supplements like the protein drinks.
You do not have to depend on the commercially available health and protein drinks every time you need to have an extra shot of protein. It is quite easy to make up a drink yourself by mixing a variety of protein rich ingredients. Let us now have a look at the common sources of protein that we can use.
Diary Product- Milk is commonly used for a variety of Protein drinks. However, it is wise to consume low fat milk if you want to stay healthy. The saturated fat in whole milk can give rise to a number of obesity or heart related complications. You can also use goat’s milk or coconut milk as the main medium for your protein drink. Soy, almond or hemp seed milks are other healthy alternatives that can be considered.
Fruits- Although fruits are excellent for our health, eating high sugar fruits may be harmful for diabetic patients. People watching their weight must also shun such fruits. Bananas, pineapples, grapes contain a very high amount of fructose or fruit sugar. The vitamins, minerals as well as the fiber content of these fruits can certainly help you in retaining your health. However, moderation is the key and adding a few fruits to your protein shake will help you to stay well and happy.
You can also use low sugar fruits like apple within your drink. Dates can add to the taste of your drink too. However, they are high in sugar too and should be used sparingly. The same rule applies while adding honey or maple syrup. Adding artificial sweeteners are not recommended because they may prove to be detrimental for your general health.
