Healing with Mud
Most women go in for an extensive facial session at least once in every month. They are aware that various face packs are used to clean the face properly. While most of the packs simply act as a cleansing agent, clay or mud has dual properties. That of cleaning as well as healing.
Healing Process- Therapists who resort to natural remedies have been known to apply packs on wounds and bruises in order to facilitate healing. Mud or clay helps to keep the body cool and moisturized over a long period of time. It can also eradicate the toxins from the body, thereby relieving pain and congestion. The swelling subsides as the body heat is allowed to radiate with the help of a mud pack.
Procedure- The mud used for mud packs is usually obtained from a few inches below the ground surface. The surface layer is not used because it may contain various impurities as well as harmful chemicals. The clay is then smoothened into a paste by mixing it with warm water. It is then, spread out evenly on a piece of cloth. A proper mud pack can easily be made within half an hour.
Benefits- Mud packs are normally used to minimize the symptoms of a disease. They have proved to be highly beneficial in providing relief to the patient. Moist, cool clay can reduce the body temperature effectively. It has been used successfully to alleviate the pain and discomfort during infectious fevers, measles, nervous disorders, tooth and ear ache, gout, rheumatism as well as various other diseases.
A thick layer of clay when applied liberally over the abdomen may provide relief from abdominal pain and indigestion. It aids in bowel movement and relieves constipation too. Labor pain can be facilitated by applying a fomentation or poultice of clay on the lower abdomen.
Beauty Treatment- Acne marks and other pigmentation can fade considerably by regular usage of mud packs. Most spas and beauty salons now offer body wraps of mud which help in retaining the glow of the skin while making it soft and supple.
