Hangover: Causes and Cures

Hangover is medically known as Veisalgia. It is caused owing to large amount of alcohol consumption or other kinds of drugs. Mostly this condition is associated with the after-effects of over use of alcohol. The following are some of the symptoms and remedies available for alcohol hangovers.

Hangover symptoms
The hangover symptoms may be many such as dry mouth, headache, red eyes, vomiting or sickness, dizzy feeling or light headedness, sleepy feeling etc. These symptoms are related to too much alcohol consumption. Ethanol or Ethyl alcohol can lead to dehydration, which can make your mouth dry and also lead to head aches.

Hangover Cures or Remedies
You can cure hangover by consuming a lot of fluids such as water. You must drink a lot of water before going to bed. This can eliminate the dehydrating effects of alcohol. You can also drink plenty of water immediately after waking up. You must also eat some food after consuming alcohol and not go to sleep on empty stomach. By eating something during and after your drinking session you can reduce the rate at which alcohol mixes in your blood and thereby rid yourself of the after effects of alcohol consumption. You can also eat vitamin C tablets. These help to break down the alcohol content in your body.

You can also avoid hangover by not drinking on an empty stomach. Food helps the body to digest alcohol in a better way by absorbing some of the alcohol. To slow down the alcohol assimilation, you can eat starchy foods.You can also drink non alcoholic drinks such as water along with your normal drinks.You must also take care not to consume more than one drink per hour. It is also better to consume non-carbonated drinks because carbonation can speed up the absorption of alcohol. You must also not drink sweet drinks because the sweetness may not allow you to judge your exact alcohol consumption.
