Getting Rid of Bruises

Your skin is actually covering your body like a protective bandage. This does not, however, mean that it can save itself from all types of bruises. A bruise is an internal blood clot. There are various ways of dealing with bruises when they occur. One of the best ways is to put an ice pack as soon as you get injured. You will not see the bruise immediately, but if you have hit any part of your body and have experienced pain, you are likely to get bruised. Apply the ice pack lots of times in a twenty four hour day. This will make the area numb and will prevent blood from flowing into it. The next day you can apply a little bit of heat to the area so as to improve circulation which you have stopped the previous day. This will ensure that the bruise is not as large as it would have otherwise been.

If you have injured your leg, keep your foot propped up to as to change the direction of blood flow. If you have been taking medication and injure yourself, the effect of the medication could be that you can bruise much more easily. People who use aspirin or other antidepressants will find themselves with larger bruises.

If you are an alcoholic or do drugs you will find that you will bruise more easily than others.

If you find that you are bruising very easily, it is important to consult the doctor as you could be suffering from some illness or disorder which could be the cause of the problem. Try and take care of your diet and add a lot of vitamin C to your intake so that you also build your immunity.

Once you do get a bruise, it is most likely to remain for at least six to seven days, but you will find the bruise diminish in size and it will gradually be less painful when you touch it. You will need to try doing what you can, and just be a little patient. Try using a local application to ease the pain.
