Food Poisoning

Food poisoning affects you when when you eat something that has gone bad or due to drinking untreated water. Food poisoning can be quite a problem for the person suffering from it.If you happen to suffer from food poisoning you will be vomiting regularly and will also suffer from diarrhoea. This will be accompanied with weakness and pain in the abdomen. If you do have food poisoning you need to drink lots of water.

You should make sure that your body is retaining the water; if not the food so that you do not get dehydrated. If you cannot retain water you will need to visit the doctor for further treatment.

Vomiting and diarrhoea is a natural way of letting the body get rid of the bacteria in your body; so allow it to flush out rather than take medication to suppress it. It is better to avoid food and fast for a day so that your body removes all the harmful bacteria. When you start eating keep the food semi solid and bland. Have a lot of curd; especially the pro biotic type as this is full of bacteria that is good for the body. Totally avoid milk and milk products as they are heavy to digest.

Besides lots of water you can also have water to which a little salt, sugar and lemon have been added as all the vomiting and diarrhoea would have caused you to lose the electrolytes from your body. Make sure that your food is well cooked.

Avoid salads and canned foods for a while. It is also better to avoid meat; especially fish. Avoid eating cold food as they may contain bacteria. Heat the food well and what you do not keep in the fridge immediately. Do not keep food out for too long.

If you find that the food is smelling or tastes different; do not eat it. If you are on the path of recovery stay away from outside foods and go easy on the oil and spices in your food. If you are having aerated drinks; take the fizz out of it before you consume it.
