Food as Aphrodisiacs
An aphrodisiac is a substance that enhances sexual desire. It can be a number of articles which tend to heighten the bodily sensations. According to common belief, a number of food items can not only increase our sexual desire but enhance sexual performance a well. Although Western medicine does not recognize the effect of food on sexual desire, a number of alternative therapies use the effect of both food and natural perfumes to heighten the physical desire. Let us now check out some of the common food stuffs that are regarded as aphrodisiacs.
Asparagus- This simple vegetable is a rich source of vitamin E. Preparing a simple meal or salad with lots of this wonderful vegetable is believed to have a positive effect on your sexual prowess. Flavoring the salad with fresh lemon juice adds to the taste.
Peppers- Hot chili peppers are considered to be body heat enhancers and helps to add spice to just about any dish. They are known to release endorphins into the body system and help to increase the libido of both males as well as females.
Oysters- People have been extolling the virtues of oysters for their aphrodisiac properties from time immemorial. However, there may be a grain of truth in the folklore. Oysters are practically loaded with zinc which increases the level of testosterone thereby increasing sexual desire. Canned oysters are available readily if you cannot get fresh oysters for your purpose.
Chocolate- The best aphrodisiac of all is the chocolate. It is no wonder that chocolate is highly preferred as a gift of love. Chocolate causes release of pheriylethlamine in our body which in turn heightens the feeling of physical desire.
You can try out all these foods for fun but it is not wise to depend too heavily on them alone. The reasons for sexual dysfunctions are complicated where both physical as well as psychological inadequacies come into play. Consulting a registered medical professional is advisable if you want to overcome your sexual problems.
