Pumping iron at the gym is in fashion now. Men with rippling muscles are considered to be macho and regarded with envy. The body is the temple again and the old adage of the brain being greater than the brawn has taken the backseat in the present times.
What is bodybuilding? : The modification of the body muscles by development of the musculature especially in men is known as body building. The muscles whose contours are normally hidden by layers of fat are revealed by losing that fat together with a combination of oils and tanning lotions which highlight the bulges and give the body a glistening and rippling effect.
The person who intends to develop his muscles must go through the following:-
Weight Training: This is the method for using a combination of specialized instruments like bars and dumbbells to counteract the muscular action. This kind of training should be done under professional guidance.
Diet and Nutrition: The muscle builders need a specialized type of diet with regular protein and energy supplements. The body builder needs more calories than an average person but care must be taken to see that the ratio of carbohydrates, fats and proteins are absolutely right for augmenting muscle goal. Dividing the meals into small portions throughout the day is more helpful in building up the muscles.
Proper Rest: The common mis-conception is that muscle growth takes place during working out. On the contrary the bulk of the muscles are built during sleep without which the muscles do not recover from the trauma caused during strenuous exercise at the gym. An average of eight hours of rest time is required for the body builder although this period varies depending on the individual.
Drugs: Some professional body builders use drugs like anabolic steroids to enhance their muscle bulk and increase their performance in competitive sports. Some of these drugs have been banned and their continuous use may cause gynaecomastia, baldness and testicular atrophy inĀ the individuals using them.
