Extracting Fruit Juices the Right Way

Fruits as well as fruit juices are beneficial to us. This is a fairly known fact and most of us do try to include fruit juice in our daily diets in order to stay healthy. However, it is mandatory to consume freshly squeezed fruit juices if you want to derive  the maximum benefit out of fruit juices. You can achieve it quite easily if you  plan and prepare the juices by keeping a few simple tips in mind.

Shopping- Buying fresh fruits is the first step in the preparation of healthy fruit juices. Seasonal fruits should be purchased when in season. This ensures the longevity of the fruits as well as the maximum nutritional benefits that can be derived from it. It is best to wash the fruits thoroughly before storing it.

Using a small brush to get rid of the dirt and other impurities on the skin of the fruit will help you to prepare the juice hygienically as well. While some vegetables can be stored at room temperatures, it is best to store various berries, cucumbers and celeries in the refrigerator.

Preparation- It is essential to peel a fruit properly before extracting its juice, specially for fruits which have a hard and inedible skin. Seeds or pips must also be removed with meticulous care to prevent the pips from finding their way into the stomach.

Technique- It is a good idea to start juicing the softer items before you move on to the harder fruits specially when you want a mixed fruit juice. Leaves, sprouts and stems need to be inserted into the juicer in small bundles.

Remnant- You will often find yourself left with a lot of pulp after you complete the juicing procedure. The pulp from various fruits is a rich source of vitamins and minerals and it will be a foolhardy gesture to throw them away. Using them in cooking or in sauces, relishes and pickles as well as in desserts may help you to enrich your diet.
