This is actually good, and you should actually choose one which is moist as they will also help your chapped lips.
If your lips are dry and chapped, you will see that you are constantly licking them. This is causing more of a problem and it dries your lips much faster. The more you lick your lips, you will that a red line gets formed which is called lip lickers dermatitis. If you are licking your lips, stop immediately.
Make sure that at least in winter, you drink lots of water and also keep putting lip balm on your lips. Using sunscreen on your lips is also very beneficial. Petroleum jelly and castor oil should be applied at night and you will find that your lips are much softer in the morning.
If your lips are chapped, you need to take care as it can also get infected. Ask your doctor to prescribe any antibiotic ointment which you can use. Make sure that no remains of toothpaste or mouthwash remain on the lips as this also causes your lips to chap. You can also apply oil which you use at home regularly on your lips.
You should increase your intake of vitamin B which will help in curing chapped and dry, discoloured lips. When your lips are chapped, you may often find that you are peeling it. This will only make the problem worse, and your lips may also start to bleed. Doing this will also darken your lips and slowly you will begin to peel the lips more and more and the healing will only take longer.
Another useful hint is to take excess oil from your face and apply it to your lips to keep them oiled and moist.
