Do You Suffer From Nose bleeds

A nose bleed can occur at any time due to things that you may do by yourself. Your nose can bleed if you get punched on it. Kids often get nose bleeds when they stick their fingers in to it. or also sometimes due to the weather change. Whenever it happens you do get scared; but these are some simple things that can help you through your ordeal.

Firstly blow your nose as hard as you possibly can to remove any clot that may be stuck in there. Sometimes this works so well that you will find the nose bleed has actually stopped. If the bleeding continues then wet a cotton and press it on the area of the nose that is bleeding. Keep changing the cotton with a fresh one till the bleeding stops.

Once your nose bleeds keep your head dropped forward and do not lie down as lying down will prevent the blood from flowing up and get clogged in the nose. If the bleeding has stopped there would yet be a small wound in the nose that would take a few days to heal. Avoid putting your finger in and feeling it as you may damage it and cause bleeding again. You can also try to apply ice to stop the bleeding.

If you find yourself suffering from nosebleeds regularly you need to increase your intake of iron and also add on vitamin C to your diet. If the wound in the nose is bad but the bleeding has stopped you should put some antibiotic ointment to avoid any infection.

If you have frequent nose bleeds you should avoid taking aspirin and also keep a check on your blood pressure. Try and eat foods that are low in fat. Also avoid smoking as it dries up the lining in the nose.

Nose bleeds are not as dangerous as they look. However if after you try everything and there is yet bleeding or pain or if you have any discomfort while breathing then you should visit the doctor. Make sure that you are not swallowing blood with your nose bleed. You may find it going down your throat. In that case you should immediately go to the doctor.
