Dangers of Artificial Sweeteners
Many people who are extremely diet conscious and wish to shed weight resort to the use of artificial sweeteners regularly or even daily. Harmful imitation sugars are ingested by us when we consume these so called light or sugar free products. There are a range of sugar free products available these days namely gum, puddings, ice-cream, breath mints, diet sodas, yoghurt and other products.
The other types of sugars inherent in such items include neotame, sucralose, aspartame or neotame etc. These sugar substitutes can be risky for our health and have been caught up in several controversial issues.
No doubt these sugar free products remove our dependency on pure white sugar that is filled with a lot of calories. However they can also lead to disastrous side effects. You can experience symptoms such as shortness of breath and blindness associated with the use of aspartame poisoning.
However it is not possible to detect poisoning resulting from artificial sweeteners through lab tests and x-rays. Hence you must limit or still better stay away from the use of these artificial sweeteners for your own good health.
You can try to shed weight through other healthy ways rather than taking recourse through the use of artificial sweeteners in your diet. You can for instance use organic cane sugar instead of using plain white sugar in your foods. Another good substitute for white sugar is honey.
You can also detoxify your body from the high sugar content by consuming plenty of water and eating a wide range of foods. You can maintain a note of changes in your diet and overall health.
There are some artificial sweeteners that contain Dextrose which contains an anti caking agent called calcium silicate. This can lead to upset stomachs. Other brands of such sweeteners have aspartame that can lead to problems such as brain swelling, headaches, multiple sclerosis and brain cancer.
This ingredient is also found in many types of potato chip, chewing gum and diet sodas and can lead to several symptoms and illnesses. Skin eruptions, diarrhea, irritability and muscular dysfunction are other side effects that can ensue from the use of artificial sweeteners.
