Curing Ailments With Chamomile

Chamomile is one of the more common medicinal plants. It is gaining popularity for its various curative properties with most people. It is actually slightly bitter in taste, but has a lovely aroma.The part of the chamomile which is used medicinally is not actually the head of the flower. The stem is what is used, along with the flower itself. The heads of the flower are used for tea. It is very good for people who suffer from flatulence, and it also helps in reducing inflammations. It also eases stomach and intestinal pain, and is highly beneficial for women suffering from menstrual cramps.

The actual way to prepare chamomile tea is to put one teaspoon of the flower in one cup of water. Do not add boiling water to the flowers as it will lose its therapeutic value. Instead, boil the water and let is cool a little before you add the flowers. Leave it to sit for about five minutes before you strain it and drink.

Chamomile can also be applied to the skin to nourish it. A great way to apply it on the skin wold be to mix some of the flowers with a small amount of olive oil. Keep this in the sun for a few days and then strain it. Rub this mixture on the skin. This is specially useful for the winter.

Chamomile tea helps ease pain in the nerves and gives you a restful sleep. Drinking two to three cups of chamomile tea daily will help your digestive system and will also ease constipation.

Chamomile can cause allergic reactions in certain people. If you are among them, discontinue use at once. Cotton which is soaked in warm chamomile tea can be placed under the eyes. make sure the tea is well strained before applying.  It is a great remedy for fever, coughs and sore throats. o a little steaming by adding a few chamomile flowers to the steam water. If you are a heart patient you should not use this as a remedy.

Chamomile herbs are also suitable for children and regular chamomile tea will cure not only gastric problems but will also reduce throat pain and cramps.
