Cottage Cheese is Good for Health
Cheese in your diet is not recommended if you are watching your weight. But cottage cheese which is a natural product can actually be beneficial for weight watchers.
Formation- The cheese derives its name from the cottages where they were prepared initially and is not dehydrated nor does it contain artificial coloring. Since they do not undergo any maturation, they are often slightly sweet to taste and have a mild flavor. While cottage cheese can be made naturally from fresh milk, rennet and a mesophilic starter, the commercial product makes use of curds and other milk products low in fat content.
Health Benefits- Cottage cheese is particularly good for health because it has an abnormally low percentage of both fat and carbohydrates. Its high protein content makes it an ideal food for people who are on a low-carb diet. It can also help you to achieve that sculpted look for your body as it tones up your muscles while getting rid of the extra flab. Cottage cheese also contains sodium and has an abysmally low quantity of cholesterol.
Dishes made of Cottage Cheese- Since you can get only about 15 pounds of cottage cheese from 100 pounds of milk, it is not economical to eat it alone. You can pep up the taste by sprinkling a little pepper or Tabasco sauce on it before popping it into your mouth. It can also be fashioned into a sugarless pudding by adding a packet of artificial sugar and vanilla flavor to it.
Cottage cheese tastes best as an accompaniment to fruits. You can eat it with blueberries, strawberries, peaches or pineapple. The list is endless. However, if you are concerned about the amount of fructose intake just replace the fruits with a flavored drink. You can also use cottage cheese in almost all traditional cheese dishes including the yummy Macaroni and Cheese.
