Check for Bowel Cancer
Bowel cancer is just as bad as any cancer and also needs to be checked. If caught in the early stages there is a very high chance of it being cured. As you are getting older start making changes in your diet to avoid the risk of bowel cancer. Eat foods that are rich in fiber and also start exercising. Avoid eating red meat. You can eat fish instead. Try and eat foods that are low in fats and also increase your intake of calcium. You can take supplements of calcium instead. Keep a check on your weight as people who are over weight have a higher chance of this cancer. Also quit smoking and drinking as prevention is better than cure.
Make sure that you visit your doctor every six months and inform him of any changes in your medication and also your bowel movements. Make sure you drink enough water through the day. If someone in your family has had bowel cancer then you are more at risk so take care and get a screening done. A screening test is simple and only involves sending your smeared stool for testing. If it shows blood in the stool then you may be asked to do a colonoscopy.
