Chase the Baby Blues Away
The life of a woman changes after she has a baby. It is both the best of times as well as the worst of time. Most women feel disoriented and a little anxious. Leaving the temporary sanctuary of the hospital with a tiny frail creature and having to deal with the physical pain post childbirth and unease may cause you to feel depressed. The hormonal changes on your body are also responsible for your emotional state to a great extent. This is a typical symptom of postpartum depression commonly known as baby blues.
However, if you turn violent at times or are obsessed with your thoughts you need to see a doctor immediately. Although postpartum depression can last from a few months to almost a year, you can try to minimize them by thinking and acting positively.
Bathing- There is a tendency to stay in bed for the whole day following the birth of your baby. You tend to get tired by looking after your baby and adjusting to the new feeding times. Make it a point to shower daily. Using a floral scented soap or eucalyptus oil in your bathroom will help to improve your mood.
Dress- Do not neglect your looks. You will feel happy if you put on a new dress and a little make up on. Keeping a little time aside for pampering yourself is essential too. It will cheer you up considerably and your baby will also like being picked up and cuddled by a warm and fragrant Mommy.
Exercise- You do not have to go in for vigorous exercises. A long relaxing walk will help you renew your contact with the neighborhood. You can have the baby accompany you in a stroller. You will be surprised to see how many smiles you get from the people passing by.
Nap- Try to get some well deserved rest. The baby is sure to keep you awake at night, so steal a nap whenever you find the time. Feeling tired and listless will not only leave you depressed it will also affect the mood of your baby.
