Causes and Treatment of Foot Corns

Foot corns can be irritating and painful. Hence you must recognize the causes of foot corns and the methods to treat it effectively. Friction or pressure from ill-fitting shoes is the main causes of corns. Corns mostly form on the toes and tips of the toes in people who have highly arched foot type. Deformed or crooked toes can also lead to corn formation. Corns may be soft or hard types. A hard corn will be surrounded by inflamed skin with an eye in the center. A soft corn generally forms in between the toes because of friction. It becomes soft owing to the sweat between the toes which softens the hard corn tissue.

Occurrence of corns is more in females than in males. This is because women tend to use tighter fitting shoes, socks and stockings etc which make them prone towards this condition. If you happen to suffer from diabetes or other circulatory problems you must be cautious with respect to the treatment of corns on the feet. It is better to consult a doctor regarding the course of treatment for corns if you suffer from these conditions. You must either remove the pressure from your feet area or change your shoe style to be free of this condition. In this way you can make corns disappear on its own.

You can also buy corn pads from the medical store which can provide extra comfort through better padding. Since these pads can take up more space you must wear large sized shoes which can accommodate your feet. You can also make use of a salicylic drops or ointment to treat your corns.

Though this can cure corns if it falls on the surrounding skin area it can cause a burning sensation and also cause an ulcer to form. You must therefore use the drops with utmost care. Corns are best treated at the initial stage. If left untreated it can lead to complications later on. Surgery may be performed to remove corns in rare cases. High pressure caused by bony prominence can be corrected through surgical methods.
