Caring For Your Sun burnt Skin
You never know how much discomfort sun burn can cause you till you do not get it. Once you get sun burnt you will always remember to take care and use a sunscreen wherever you go.Once you get sun burnt you will find your skin feeling hot and as the days go by will begin to feel itchy and there will be some pain. You can try to take a pain killer before beginning your home remedies to relieve the discomfort that it is causing you.
Your skin will appear swollen and slightly red; immediately apply ice packs to cool it down. Apply the ice packs ten to fifteen times a day. Make sure you have a bath with cool water. Do not rub your body with a towel simply pat it dry instead. Also avoid using soap when you bathe as it may irritate the already sensitive skin that is burnt.
Make sure to apply moisturizer over the sun burnt area as it will soothe it. A good thing to use would be aloe Vera gel as it has a cooling effect on the skin. You can try some home remedies like applying milk to which some ice has been added an the affected area. Apply it throughout the day to cool it down.
Another good way to ease the burning and itching is to mix oatmeal with water and apply it as a pack on the skin. As cucumber is very cooling you can also place slices of it on the sun burnt area.
Make sure that you eat well so that your skin heals faster and also drink plenty of water. If you find blisters appearing on the skin do not scratch it out. This is part of the healing process of a sun burn. If you find that you get sun burnt easily make sure you apply sun screen at least half an hour before leaving the house. Also wear a large hat and try staying indoors between 11am and 2 pm.
If you are sun burnt you will find it very difficult to lie down on the affected area. apply powder on the bed before lying on it. Also if you are wanting to get a tan do it slowly and keep an eye on your skin.
